Well, when I was still in school, we did ours around the kitchen table or in our rooms. Now that I’m out, my mother takes my younger siblings to the library to do their work(mainly to reduce possible distractions)

I think the term “homeschool” can be very misleading.

While there are people who do “school at home,” many of us are out and about. My child is in multiple classes for math, science, art, English, and on and on. We are going to start calling it “mobile schooling.”

All the best.

Well Im just starting to home school my son in a few weeks. He will use his bedroom to study and do work. If that does not work I will move him into the living room where there is more open space but with TV off of course. He will also go to library sometimes to study and also trips to museums and zoos.

I do my home schooling at home in a room with a white board. And of course my school books.

The answer to your question would really depend on just what the lesson for the day is ( at least in our family). Any given day could find us….in the kitchen doing a math lesson by cooking or a messy science lesson, history lessons usually find us out and about as we live in a very history oriented state ( Virginia), nice days might find us doing lessons down at the beach/park or taking nature walks. Perhaps a little gardening for science/math/language or watching Mythbusters or How It’s Made for science insights. Home Ec might find us at the dining room table sewing or working on some kind of ‘crazy’ project, while the grocery store is a great place to do all sorts of math.

I guess for us the question is …….Why is it called HOME School when we are rarely ever home?

Don’t fall for the line that says just because you homeschool you have to stay in the house. If that were the case, then we would have a heck of a lot of shut-ins and there would be little to no traffic.

Have a great year.
