I got my GE out of the way at a JC and then transferred to a University where I got my B.S. while working. It does take a little while longer, but not having a huge student loan bill really is nice. I did not get my AA, but transferred with the maximum credits. I would do the JC thing again.

Two years at a community college is cheaper than two years in a college.
Many kids now are being advised to go the junior college route, get the AA and then continue in your speciality in a college.
